“Newport from its very early days was always interested in presenting new talent and was very cognizant of the fact that young women were making strides into this field of Folk/Americana. Needless to say, the new incarnation of the festival has continued even to a greater degree. Sarah came to us from Texas via Boston as a student at the New England Conservatory. Her first appearance in Newport in 2010 featured a number of instruments and her very well crafted songs. Sarah has a very distinctive voice that extends far beyond the audience expectations, a deep earthy feel with phrasing similar to some of the great Jazz vocalists. Her most recent recording features includes a number of great Bluegrass players, but Sarah has moved beyond the borders of Bluegrass and following in the footsteps steps of Alison Krauss, Indigo Girls and Patty Griffin, she joins the host of young women who have made their mark a Newport!
Look for me at Sarah’s set. I’ll be there. She is a woman not to be missed!”
