Third Man Records Presents Readers From Language Lessons V.1
Saturday, July 26, 2014
Spoken word poetry blends words with rhythm, oration with tone and brings storytelling from the page to the stage. Spoken word is akin to folk music; the two often find themselves intersecting in their common origins of sharing stories, activism, and the blues. And like folk music, spoken word has grown over time and stretched the boundaries of it’s ancestors while still staying true to the craft of the story, the spark, the opinion, and the shared experience of the human condition.
I’m happy to welcome Third Man Records to the Fort this summer as they present Readers from Language Lessons V.1: Zachary Schomburg, Joshua Marie Wilkinson, Janaka Stucky, Sampson Starkweather, Paige Taggart, Kendra Decolo, and Chet Weise.
