Langhorne Slim & The Law
Saturday, July 27, 2013
“Langhorne Slim. Where to begin. The epitome of extraordinary. The king of cool. A true entertainer. Whether it’s a festival crowd of thousands or an intimate set at your local record store, he has the ability to make you feel like you are an integral part of the performance. Like you’re right there on stage. How he does it, I’ll never know.
His performances, among many things, are explosive yet personal. Raucous yet beautiful, and his albums are a perfect reflection of that. From The Electric Love Letter to the latest release The Way We Move, he has this great ability to write these songs that are so easy to relate to. Songs that are relevant in anyone’s life. I have had the privilege of getting to know Langhorne Slim over the years and what an honor it has been. From a friendly face in the crowd, to someone to meet up with before and after a show, he’s always treated me the same. Grounded. Down to earth. What honorable traits to have.
Langhorne Slim is returning to the Newport Folk Festival for the second time. It has been a while since his last performance in 2009, but I look forward to every second of the set.
To Langhorne: I recently asked ‘why hasn’t Langhorne Slim been back to Newport yet?’ The answer, in short, was ‘hmm… not sure. Maybe this year will be the year.’ Now I am writing to all the Newport Folk Fans about how wonderful you are musically, and personally. So on behalf of me (and everyone else), welcome back, you ‘Beautiful Freak.’”
